Andrew Law

Kickboxing & Athletic Development

"Yes, definitely. I’d recommend Jordan to someone who wants more than just being put through a hard workout. There is thought behind the programming and progression... You manage to make the sessions both enjoyable, motivating and demanding."

1. What made you decide to start coaching in the first place?

I wanted a more structured and purposeful approach to my training. I already did quite a lot of sport, particularly kickboxing, but I wanted to improve my overall strength, conditioning and injury prevention rather than simply exercising without a clear progression.

2. What results or changes have you noticed since we started working together?

I’ve definitely become stronger especially in my upper body. I like the access to varied and range of equipment which I don't have at home, how to progress exercises properly and when to push harder or back off. I’ve also noticed improvements in my leg strength and general athleticism, which carry over well into kickboxing.

3. What do you enjoy most about the coaching?

I enjoy that the sessions are challenging, always varied and have a purpose. There is a good balance between strength, conditioning and functional athletic work, and enough variety to keep things interesting. I also like understanding why we are doing particular exercises rather than simply being given a workout to complete.

4. How would you describe your experience of working with me to someone else?

Very positive. Jordan is knowledgeable, supportive and tailored rather than being a generic programme. Having the occasional challenge vs. Eddie is always fun.

5. Would you recommend my coaching to someone who’s considering it? If so, why?

Yes, definitely. I’d recommend Jordan to someone who wants more than just being put through a hard workout. There is thought behind the programming and progression, and the coaching helps you understand how to improve over time including the assessment. You manage to make the sessions both enjoyable, motivating and demanding, while keeping them relevant to the individual.

Laine's Dad (Youth Triathlon & Core)

"I’ve seen an improvement in his resilience when you shared your challenges in a way that was relatable, and gave him more self-belief... he loves celebrating what he achieves and it’s now become more a competition against himself and his previous performance."

1. What made you decide to start coaching in the first place?

He was desperate to enter a triathlon but because of a tummy injury, we said he could get training instead. The training was supposed to start once we got to the bottom of the tummy injury, turns out the core training is supporting his recovery! He wants to enter the triathlon next year when he’ll be younger in an older age group.

2. What results or changes have you noticed since we started working together?

It was good to get a session baseline measure and then see his improvement. As we know, the mental side is really important and I’ve seen an improvement in his resilience when you shared your challenges in a way that was relatable, and gave him more self-belief. You’ve probably worked out Laine’s competitive, we’ve emphasised it’s not about anyone else it’s about you and achieving your best performance; he loves celebrating what he achieves and it’s now become more a competition against himself and his previous performance rather than worrying about what anyone else is doing.

3. What do you enjoy most about the coaching?

I think he enjoys the variety and challenge within a safe and positive environment. It gives him the chance to show to himself his ability and be proud of what he has achieved. Laine says it because you are, “fun and nice.”

4. How would you describe your experience of working with me to someone else?

Your communication has been excellent; you are transparent and keep us in the loop. You have a really good interaction with Laine and are talking at his level and to his interests.

5. Would you recommend my coaching to someone who’s considering it? If so, why?

Yes, very much so. I think that you work with so many people in the same sports club speaks for itself.
